a) Costa Rica has a nice tropical and subtropical climate (The World Factbook). It has an ample amount of rain, especially during the wet season. On some parts of the country, there is a nice trade wind, while on other parts, the climate is fairly temperate (Encyclopedia Britannica).

Seasonality
a)What is the annual range of temperature and precipitation for two cities in your country? An
annual range is taking the hottest month minus the coldest month.
b) How does the annual temperature and precipitation for a city in your country compare to
Honolulu?
c) Do these cities in your country experience large or small seasonality? Seasonality refers to
how extreme the seasons are. Honolulu has less seasonality than New York where there are very
strong seasons (hot summers, cold winters)
Great map choice and description of the climate regions. What about the seasonality? How warm are the warmest months in two of your cities? How cold are the coldest months of two of your cities? If you subtract the coldest from the warmest you'll get the annual temperature range. You can do the same thing for precipitation by finding the wettest and driest month values for precipitation and subtracting the driest from the wettest to get the annual range of precipitation.
ReplyDeleteHow does Costa Rica's temperature/climate compare to Honolulu? They're both pretty tropical so I would expect them to be similar. These questions were on the worksheet and are listed above, but don't have answers. :(
